New Year Spring clean
New Years is all about making a fresh start. Out with the old in with the new. Why not apply the same rules to your home with a New Year spring clean. Here are some ready-made resolutions to kick start your year with a spotless house.
Living Room Cleanup
The guests have gone home after celebrating New Years with you. From what you can remember, it was fun at the time. But now, the mess and disarray that’s been left behind is blindingly obvious. All the rooms show evidence of partying, not least the living room. To clean away the mess and clutter in just 45 minutes, follow these easy steps which will see your living room return to its pristine condition once again.
15 minute cleanup
Scour your living room from top to bottom. While doing that, take a big container and throw in any items that don’t belong in the living room. You want to make sure nothing gets in the way of your New Year spring clean.
Dust and clean all art and photographs on the wall
Framed photos and artworks are the centerpiece to any living room. It makes sense, therefore, to show it off in immaculate condition. It is important to note to never spray cleanser or water onto the frame because the liquid can seep and spread behind the glass and permanently damage your precious pictures. You should, instead, lightly wet a cloth to wipe the frame and glass.
Take down curtains and blinds to wash
During the winter months, curtains are exposed to the trapped odors of sweat, dust and grime. It’s too cold to air out the house with all the windows and doors open, so you should vacuum and clean windowsills and corners instead. Most curtains are washable using cold water with a small amount of laundry detergent. For the blinds, close the slats to expose more of the surface area and vacuum with a brush attachment.
Vacuum Furniture
For upholstered furniture use the upholstery tool from your vacuum cleaner attachments. The crevice tool will also help vacuum corners and edges. The dust brush tool works well when vacuuming leather upholstered furniture. For really delicate fabrics, use cautiously. For bookshelves and other non-upholstered furniture, use the dust brush tool or crevice tool.
By following these simple yet effective procedures, you’ll find your home looking and smelling fresh, just in time for the exciting New Year ahead.
